Kingston, Jamaica—-January 21, 2014 —– The Jamaica Bobsleigh Federation, an affiliate member of the International Bobsleigh and Skeleton Federation (FIBT) and the Jamaica Olympic Association (JOA), is pleased to confirm the qualification and certification of our 2 Men Bobsleigh team to participate in the Winter Olympic Games to be held in Sochi, Russia from February 7 – 23, 2014.
The Federation is grateful for the outpouring of international moral and financial support for the team from the international media and fans around the world. As of today, having met their short term goal, the Federation is announcing the closure of all fundraising efforts at crowd funding websites (@CrowdTilt, @Indiegogo @dogecoins and others) for participation in the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympic Games.
The Federation is also thankful for the continued financial assistance from the Jamaica Olympic Association (JOA).
In recent days, the Federation has officially communicated its gratitude to the various crowd funding sites who have solicited support for the Team. The Federation has also earnestly begun the process of securing full control and designee authority of all collected funds in care of the Federation’s PayPal account (cstokes@jamaicabobsleighteam.com) On behalf of the Team, the Federation is pleased to report that it has reached its fundraising goal for short term needs in their plea to the public. The Federation emphasizes that no further donations should be made to any crowd funding sites in support of the Team. All voluntary donations to the Team’s development can be made directly to Federation’s DONATION account at http://wwww.jamaicabobsleighteam.com.
Presently, the team and supporting delegation is in training in Wyoming, United States and will travel to Sochi, Russia on February 3rd and 4th. The team is expected to make its first official appearance in the Flag Raising Ceremony in the athletes’ village on February 5th. The Opening Ceremony of the Games will be on Friday, February 7 and the competition for the 2 Men Bobsleigh team will take place on February 19 and 20.
