The University of Technology (UTech Knights) enhanced its burgeoning reputation as one of the top universities in track and field sprinting winning three of its four relays on the final day. The ‘Knights’ got the ball rolling when its crack team of Andrew Fisher, Julian Forte, Kemarley Brown and Tyquendo Tracey on anchor showed their class in repelling the challenge of a very good Texas A&M quartet. UTech stopped the clock at 39.27 to 39.56 for their closest rival. GC Foster College gave Team Jamaica a 3rd place finish in a time of 40.26.

The UTech women (1.30.80) made up for the disappointment of Friday’s no show in the 4x100m with a convincing win in the College Women’s 4x200m. The team of the steady Shimayra Williams, the gazelle-like Elaine ‘Slimmaz’ Thompson, the colourful Chanice Bonner and the silky smooth Shericka Jackson on anchor held all the aces in a dominant performance which saw them ending the 6 year winning streak of Texas A&M (1.31.17). GC Foster College acquitted themselves well yet again finishing 5th in 1.34.63.
The well-oiled UTech men’s machine was at it again in the 4x200m leading Team Jamaica to another win. The fantastic four of Andrew Fisher, Kemarley Brown, Kavean Smith and Julian Forte won by ‘donkey lengths’ in 1.20.97 ahead of Team Jamaica’s other representative GC Foster College (1.23.02). Texas University with Jamaican Senoj-Jay Givans on anchor finished 5th.
UTech, despite the gallant efforts of Tjipekapora Herunga, Shericka Jackson, Simoya Campbell and Janieve Russell, was no match for Texas University who won the College Women’s 4x400m in 3.29.46. UTech was 2nd in 3.31.34 while Clemson University with Jamaicans Olivia James (start) and Natoya Goule (anchor) finished 3rd. GC Foster College represented Team Jamaica well in the men’s equivalent but the team of Alwin Green, Marzel Miller, Demish Gayle and Andre Clarke could only muster 6th in 3.09.98 as Louisiana State University won in 3.02.61.
Andrew Fisher who ran the opening legs on the 4x100m and 4x200m for UTech was named the College Men Penn Relays Athlete – Relay Events.
