KINGSTON, JAMAICA – A team of over 40 athletes made their debut at 2017 International Lacrosse Showdown over the weekend at Johnson & Wales University in Providence, RI, USA. The event has been coordinated by the Israel Lacrosse Association, who earlier this week held a press conference in Tel Aviv to announce the details of their plans to host the 2018 FIL Men’s World Championships.
“Participation in this event is an important next step in our engagement of Jamaican lacrosse players in the Diaspora. While local, home-grown development here is Jamaica has and always will be our top priority, we are really excited to engage with Jamaicans living abroad in the USA, Canada and the UK to give them an opportunity to support and connect with their roots.” says JLA President, Calbert Hutchinson.
Team Jamaica defeated Portugal & Puerto Rico to finish 5-1. This resulted in a tie for 1st place at International Lacrosse Showdown at Johnson & Wales 60 Harborside Blvd, Providence, RI.
