Dreams are meant to become a reality and hard work is meant to be rewarded. At all times God is to be Glorified and each step of the way one should keep Moving in Faith” ~ Zara Northover
There has been a Moving in Faith movement over the last few years and Zara Northover has been spreading the motto through t-shirts, bracelets and words of encouragement. It all started in 2007 for Northover as she and fellow captains of the Women’s Track and Field program at Northeastern University in Boston came together to rally their team to win their first Colonial Athletic Association championship. “My team needed uplifting and therefore other captains and I went out and bought tank tops that we designed together the night before our competition. On the back of mine I wrote moving in faith and all my teammates names. During my speech I said that we are not doing this for just ourselves or our school, but this is for our family, each other and for God. We just have to keep Moving in Faith because at all costs we will then be unstoppable.” Needless to say Northover scored 34 points in the throws to contribute to the team’s first win. Ever since she has been spreading the motto that has been impressed upon her heart by God himself she states.
“I graduated in 2007 and I knew I wanted to make the 2008 Olympic Games it was not an easy year for me at all. I ended up with a bulging disc and was supposed to have surgery and tore my meniscus in my right knee. I worked full time along with other jobs to support myself, training full time, and some serious injuries that caused me later to have surgery.” Northover never gave up though she just kept telling herself that she was Moving in Faith and needless to say she threw a personal best with the torn meniscus to make the 2008 Olympic team.
Since Northover was not sponsored she did not want to just buy and wear clothes advertising for other shoe companies. So instead she set out to honor God and got shirts printed with the motto Moving in Faith on them and competed in that.” Zara has stated she uses track and field as a platform to spread God’s word. “I truly feel like I have been blessed with a gift and to him I am thankful. However, I feel like my blessings are beyond the circle. I have had a vision to create faith based and inspirational clothing that would inspire and motivate others. To be honest I wear the bracelets and shirts as a reminder to myself to keep on pushing and to never give up.”
Track and Field as well as life is full of obstacles, adversities and setbacks while there are many joyful moments as well as victories and success. Therefore she states we always should honor God and continue to share our stories to be a blessing onto others. Northover utilized sales of shirts and wristbands to help support her journey and continue to achieve her dreams while helping others in the process. “It is amazing to see the progression of the tank top with permanent marker , to silver screened words, to a professionally designed logo by Zack Smith. The shirts and saying has been making its mark around the world inspiring others to share their story and to boldly confess that no matter what they will always keep Moving in Faith.” To get your shirt simply make a 20 dollar donation to Northover’s website www.zaranorthover.com and she will contact you for your size and color. Wristbands are 1 for 3 or 2 for 5. Please add her on facebook and www.movinginfaith.com will be up and running soon. Thanks in advance for your support and joining the Moving in Faith movement.
