Danusia Francis of Jamaica – UNEVEN BARS I love Danusia Francis’ attitude. On the slow replay, you can see the pain she’s in with that ACL injury. Wise decision on her part here. She has much to be proud of, and she clearly is. What a great smile. pic.twitter.com/1oAns7Hc7N — Alheli Picazo (@a_picazo) July 25, 2021   “Danusia your Mental Strength and Courage will be a part of Jamaica’s folklore and history for years to come .I am so proud of what you did for our country and your self. Thank you and Godspeed on a speedy recovery to a 100%” ~Dr. Jason Hamilton, Sports Psychologist#TeamJamaica pic.twitter.com/voj8K8Kmgq — Team Jamaica (@TeamJA876) July 25, 2021

Toni-Ann Williams makes history as the first Jamaican gymnast to qualify for Olympics. With a strong performance Sunday at the Olympic test event, Cal gymnast Toni-Ann Williams qualified for the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro. Williams will be the first female gymnast to represent Jamaica at the Olympics. She finished 38th overall in the test event with a 52.931 total in the all-around. Her best score was a 14.066 on vault, which ranked 24th. She also finished in the top 35 on beam (13.666, 29th) and floor (13.366, 32nd). Williams earned an 11.833 on bars.   “What an amazing accomplishment,” Cal and Jamaica head coach Justin Howell said in a news release. “It’s a little surreal at the moment, but we believed without a doubt that she would qualify.”       Williams balanced her Olympic training with her responsibilities to Cal.   Reiss will now represent Jamaica after winning silver for England in  men’s individual all-around event and a silver medal in the men’s floor at 2010 Commonwealth Games. “2014 was a good year for me, I learnt a lot and made progress through not only my gymnastics career but my life too. I would like to announce that from today 1/1/15 I will be no longer competing for Great Britain, I will be competing for Jamaica. My time competing for Great Britain was the best it could have been and I would like to thank everyone who helped me and supported me through my career. Competing for Jamaica is an amazing opportunity for me to compete with the best in the world and help make my dream of competing in an Olympic Games a reality. #2015 #TeamJamaica”   [column2] [/column2][column2_last] [/column2_last]   (Photo via echo-news.co.uk)
