You did it again ISSA

by admin· March 27, 2014· in Concerns, News, Track and Field· 0 comments tags: 2014 ISSA Boys & Girls Champs, Champs 2014
Dear Issa, You did it again and I do not mean that as a compliment. Somehow there are no tickets available for Champs. Somehow they were all sold out. Die hard track and field fans are left in a tizzy. We’ve seen this before where the tickets magically reappear on Friday afternoon and Saturday all day at rather inflated prices. There were quite a few empty seats in the grand stand on that fateful Saturday. This was a sight to behold as I’ve never seen it before and I never knew it was possible certainly not at Champs.
2014 ISSA Boys & Girls Champs Schedule
I was hoping to remind you all that this Championship is about the athletes and the fans. It is not about the 6 or so entrepreneurs who happened to get their hands on in excess of 1,000 tickets each. In that same year, when the tickets magically reappeared and were being sold for as much as $10,000 for the Saturday show many gave in and bought it. It’s been over 2 years so if we factor in the fixed and variable factors then someone should expect to pay in excess of $15,000. […]

by admin· February 02, 2014· in Floorball, News, Sourced· 0 comments tags: Floorball, Jamaica Floorball
The Jamaica Floorball Association has sent their first National Floorball team to compete on the international stage.  The team did not win any of their matches but Jason Daye, the president for the Jamaica Floorball Association (JFA) said that the mission was a success. 0-27 Jamaica – USA that was the score line at the blow of the last whistle on game day for the Jamaica Floorball Men’s team in their bid to qualify for the Floorball World Championships. JFA– Why have you said that the mission was a success? JD– The main aim for the Jamaica Floorball Association is to develop floorball in Jamaica, and in order to do that we need people that has the skills, knowledge and experience in floorball. We have to compete with the best in order to get the experience needed to improve our floorball playing style. JFA– So how do these qualifying games fits into that plan? JD– Most of the players on the Men’s National Team is in their mid-twenties and early thirties. I see this as an investment in future coaches, referees, floorball club creators, board members, floorball officials and even leaders for the Jamaica Floorball Association.
[column2] [/column2] [column2_last] [/column2_last]
Jamaican Bobsleigh Team Debut At Calgary 1988 Winter Olympics At the Calgary 1988 Winter Olympics Jamaica sent an unexpected team to compete in the bobsleigh event. Though their participation did not end in medal glory, the team won the hearts of their fans and competitors, returning to future games as equals. The Jamaican athletes were – nonetheless – determined to excel at the Games and had their fastest start so far in their final run. However, during the run, the sled crashed in one of the turns which took away the teams possibility of an officially recorded time.

Jamaica Olympic Association today received confirmation bobsled team has qualified for Sochi Olympic Games

by admin· January 20, 2014· in Bobsled, Bobsleigh, News· 0 comments tags: #LuckyEgg, Cool Runnings, Jamaica Boblsiegh Team, Jamaica Boblsled Team, Lucky Eggs
The Jamaica Olympic Association (JOA) a short while ago announced that it had received confirmation that Jamaica has qualified to compete in the 2-man bobsled at next month’s Winter Olympic Games in Sochi, Russia. The JOA also noted that it will be covering all cost associated with getting the team from its Wyoming, USA training base to the Russian city, while all local expenses will be covered by the Sochi 2014 Local Organising Committee. Jamaica first competed in bobsled at the 1988 Calgary Winter Olympics – a feat that was later lionized by the Disney film ‘Cool Runnings’. The tropical island nation also competed in the event in 1992, 1994, 1998 and 2002, but missed the last two Winter Olympics. Veteran team captain and driver Winston Watts told The Gleaner in an earlier interview that the team needed significant funding if it was to make the trip, a call that has been answered by the JOA. “The JOA, through its solidarity programme, has given significant financial assistance to the Jamaica Bobsleigh Federation which has been used to enable the team to qualify for the Sochi 2014 Winter Olympic Games. All travel costs of the team from Salt Lake City […]
