Jamaican sprinter Usain Bolt has signed a personal endorsement deal with All Nippon Airways (ANA). The 29-year-old, a six-time Olympic gold medallist, who currently holds the world record for the 100m and 200m, will feature in advertising campaigns for the Japanese airline in the lead up to the Rio 2016 Olympics and beyond. ANA is an official airline partner for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games. Its deal with Bolt was secured via its newly set up Tokyo Olympic and Paralympic Promotion Division. Bolt announced the deal on Twitter and providing a link to the first ad with ANA in which he dances along to Japanese pop song for the duration of the 30 second video. Usain Bolt has been named one of top 50 Most Marketable Athletes in 2015. A 17-year-old who only took up the sport 11 months ago is set to continue Jamaica’s rich tradition in bobsleigh at the Winter Youth Olympic Games.The bobsleigh competition will be held at the Lillehammer Olympic Sliding Centre, the same track on which the Caribbean country finished in 14th place in the four-man event at the 1994 Winter Olympic Games. Daniel Mayhew, who comes from the same Orange Field community as former 100 metres world record holder Asafa Powell, is the first Jamaican to be selected for a Winter Youth Olympics after none appeared at the inaugural event in Innsbruck in 2012.

The six-time Olympic champion sprinter acted in a one-minute spot for the South African telecommunications company Telkom. In true Bolt style, even the filming of the TV commercial had to be done at high pace. The athlete’s preparations ahead of this year’s Olympic Games remain his primary focus, and filming had to be carefully structured around his punishing training schedule. Filming took place in Bolt’s home base of Kingston, Jamaica, and the team, led by Telkom’s agency DDB, was given just three hours to complete the shoot. Bolt’s management worked closely with Telkom and DDB to ensure the developed concept would resonate with the superstar athlete. The storyline, which sees Bolt training and developing a young athlete, certainly achieved this.
